Accademia Amsterdam is inspired by an Italian institution flourishing in the 17th and 18th centuries, where people gathered to make music and discuss wide-ranging subjects. Accademia Amsterdam follows this tradition in as much as the musicians work together to reach a clear interpretation of the music. The main aim of playing concerts is to give pleasure to the audience. This is achieved through the “Speaking Style”, which has its roots in Rhetoric.
The Wrocław Masque Project presents a fully staged production of the Stuart Court Entertainment, Lord Hay’s Masque, as part of the Wrocław "Maj z Muzyką Dawną" Festival.
Dance, drama, music and poetry combine to honour the wedding of court favourite Lord Hay and his bride Honoria. Flora, goddess of flowers, presents Nymphs, Sylvans and Satyrs in celebration of the marriage, while the goddess of Night frees the leafy Greenmen from their trees as they regain their human form and return in triumph to dance at court.
Knight fair “Alexandria’s Carousel” in Petergof has already become a tradition to many citizens of St.-Petersburg. Bright court feasts, fairy-tale atmosphere, unforgettable beauty of the Petergof parks are all creating the unique scent of holiday that differs the festival from most other “living history” events of the city and suburbs. If you have not decided yet how to spend the weekend on the 6–7th of July - surely come join us on the “Alexandria’s carousel”.
This concert, the first venture of The Wrocław Masque Project, is a dynamic presentation of dialogue, dance and music from various masques. The scenes are linked together by a common theme: the jealousy of the goddess Diana, when one of her nymphs wishes to marry.
Ballnacht im Stil des 18. Jahrhunderts
