The conference proposes an exploratory look at the migration and confluence of dance styles, forms and practices through the wide net linking European nations and their colonies worldwide.

In a dialogue between Coloniser and Colonies, what part did dancing have in the cultural exchanges between nations? What impact did they have overseas and to what extent were they absorbed?

“ La danse est une espèce de réthorique muette, par laquelle l’orateur peut, par ses mouvements, sans parler un seul mot, se faire entendre et persuader les spectateurs qu’il est gaillard digne d’être loué, aymé et chéri… ” (Thoinot Arbeau, Orchésographie, Langres 1588 ). Du XVe siècle à la Renaissance, nous connaissons essentiellement la danse de cour. Bien danser, savoir chanter et jouer d’un instrument permettaient de tenir avec grâce et dignité son rang dans la société.

Einmal per Zeitreise zurück ins Nürnberg des 16. Jahrhunderts reisen – Wie kleideten sich die Patrizier oder einfache Bürgersleute? Wie sah ihr Leben aus, was tanzten, muszierten und sangen sie? Bei der Nürnberger Schembart-Gesellschaft sind solche Zeitreisen öfters möglich. Denn das 15. und 16. Jahrhundert sind die Lieblingsjahrhunderte des kleinen, agilen Vereins, der sich die Aufführung von Musik, Tanz und Gesang der Renaissance auf die Fahnen geschrieben hat. Wie viele Vereine sucht auch die Schembart-Gesellschaft immer wieder Nachwuchs.

(Venedig 1581) findet sich dieser Paartanz. Es handelt sich quasi um einen hidden track des Buches - der Tanz scheint im Inhaltsverzeichnis nicht auf! Ihn zu verstecken macht wirklich keinen Sinn, im Gegenteil! Die Bassa Pompilia besteht aus einem ruhigeren, geradtaktigen Teil mit angefügtem Sprungtanz, in diesem Fall eine Gagliarde. In unserem Kurs werden wir uns dieser abwechslungsreichen Choreographie widmen und uns intensiv mit dem dazugehörenden Schrittmaterial beschäftigen.

Jeune, sportif et excellent danseur, François Ier va demander à tous ces artistes de participer aux divertissements qui trouveront leur apogée dans des fêtes de cour appelées Magnificences dont la singularité et l’extravagance n’ont d’égal que le raffinement.

Dans le cadre des commémorations du 5ème centenaire de la Renaissance en Val de Loire, le château royal d’Amboise organise un grand Bal au cœur de l’été.

Animé par l’ensemble « Le Banquet du Roy », il est ouvert à toutes et tous, novices comme confirmés. Pour se plonger pleinement dans l’ambiance, possibilité sera offerte de louer un costume.

Renaissance Course in Florence offers you the possibility of travelling to the XVI Century with the dancer Marco Bendoni. His researches of Renaissance iconography and choreography that allow his students to develop dances that were forgotten in history. Bendoni has worked with recognized instrumental groups such as Arpegiata or Jordi Savall, participating in festivals around the world.

The program will take 20 hours from 4 th to 9 th of August in Florence:
