Au début de l’année 1515, François Ier monte sur le trône de France à l’âge de 20 ans. Roi bâtisseur, roi mécène, roi chevalier, il s’entoure des plus illustres artistes, architectes et ingénieurs de la Renaissance dont Léonard de Vinci, Benvenuto Cellini et le Primatice.

Jeune, sportif et excellent danseur, François Ier va demander à tous ces artistes de participer aux divertissements qui trouveront leur apogée dans des fêtes de cour appelées Magnificences dont la singularité et l’extravagance n’ont d’égal que le raffinement.

In August 2019, the main opera production at Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik will be Broschi's Merope, featuring six dancers from Sigrid T'Hooft's company Corpo Barocco.
